"Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence."   Carl Sagan
Just as our eyes may not visually record perception of the earth's atmosphere does not mean it is not there.  Likewise, not
everyone's brain interprets visual or other perceptions in the same way meaning some can perceive/see our human
atmosphere known as the human energy field while others may not.  Yet, throughout history, there are many accounts
referencing the human energy field and its effect on dis-ease or well-being.  This section briefly overviews main components of
the human energy field and describes through analogy how the field is affected by emotional trauma.
Though part of a much greater system, main components of the human energy
field include a central hara line, seven main chakras and seven main levels of
auric field (which are not distinct but interpenetrate each other.) The odd
numbered layers (1,3,5,7) are considered structured (boundary like) and the
even layers (2,4,6) are more cloud like. An interesting side note, if you are
having boundary issues, what is the quality of the structured/boundary layers of
your energy field?

Energy field layers, hara and chakras are conceptually depicted in the image to
the right. Additionally, each chakra, like its corresponding auric field level/layer
has its own resonance among other unique qualities.
Effects on the human energy field begin at incarnation. For example, when a
newborn (spirit) feels wanted by its new family and incarnates into a healthy
physical body, it feels safe in its new environment.  If the baby's needs are met
according to how they perceive the world, they 'ground' energetically into their
existence and radiate their brilliance and essence vitality.  Conversely the
opposite is true all along the spectrum of individual experience.
In Hands of Light  A Guide to Healing Through the Human Energy Field,
(pages 64)
author Barbara Brennan writes "The child's chakras are all open in
the sense that there is no protective film over them which screens out the
incoming psychic influences.  This makes the child very vulnerable and
impressionable."  There is an illustration in Hands of Light on page 65
showing an adult chakra with a protective shield and an undeveloped child
chakra. It is a great visual reference.

Stated another way, until the chakras develop their protective shield, traumas
hit the young person full force.  With undeveloped mental and emotional capacity, trauma energies are stored and held for later
processing.  Because like energies attract like, we continue to store similar traumas energy together enhancing their energetic
potency to attract us to people, places, events and things to help us "work it out" and release the energies.

From an energetic perspective, young children seek protection from outside influences by being within the parent's energy field.
Imagine a room full of energetically unprotected children in the unnatural school environment with an exaggerated amount of
immature hurtful behavior being taken in and processed by unprotected children?  With new insights, what can our schools of
the future be like?
A visual analogy of the energetic effects of traumas on the human energy field is like water pouring
into a nearly empty glass/vessel.  When young, our essence (
as depicted by the water in the image
to the left)
easily pours down through the hara into our energetically open human vessel
(represented as the clear water glass)
, radiating out.  In the example, the "vessel" is virtually clear of
energy blocks and also has a sense of feeling "connected".

Part of growing up includes gaining a sense of identity.  Family, peers, and society reflect what is or
is not acceptable not only regarding behavior, but what they want or don't want us to be like.  If
internalized, someone could deem a part of themselves unacceptable and create an idealized
image to project out to the world. Sometimes we convince ourselves that we are what we do such
as in a career or that we are what we believe in some religious situations.
Under these scenarios, one coping strategy is to dis-own part of ourself and project an image to fit
in or feel safe.  Quoted on page 31 from
Embracing Ourselves, " A disowned self accumulates
energy much as water will slowly accumulate behind a dam—and we have built a different dam for
each disowned self.  These disowned selves are constantly coming through to us in our dreams."
Quoted from the same book pages 33-34 “Traits associated with ‘the seven deadly sins'— sexuality, sensuality, and
emotionality—are natural energy patterns.  If, for a variety of reasons, these energies are considered unacceptable. . .   Further it
takes tremendous energy to keep our instinctual life buried, and the longer and more deeply it is buried. . . and the more energy
is required to keep it buried.  Much of the physical illness and exhaustion that plagues us today can be attributed to disowning
these energies.”

From an energy medicine perspective, like energy attracts like, similar trauma energies are stored and connected like a points
along a stellar conglomerate.  The more like energies stored together increase their potency to attract us to people, places,
events and things that help us mirror back to us what's inside or to work through and out what we hold inside.
In the water glass analogy, stored energies are represented by marbles.  Storing and holding
energies requires energy which can cause fatigue, dis-ease and premature aging.  The
dramatization on the right depicts the difficulty higher self/essence energies has trying to pour into
our energy vessel.  Under these circumstances, one feels a sense of disconnection because
connection is substantially reduced.

Additionally, unable to process out/work it out, we consciously forget the circumstances of the
traumas, yet we are aware on some level of the now stored and held energies.  It may feel too
overwhelming to go into the energy to work it out.  As we grow older, more experienced and wiser,
we may not recognize that we have acquired new skills to deal with and process through these
held traumas.

Some seek relief through therapy, personal coach, self-help books, meditation, yoga, exercise,
nature walks, hobbies, talking to friends and so on.  Energy Medicine techniques are designed to
work with distortions in the human energy field related to emotional trauma.
